Unsteady Turbulent Combustion Analysis | Hydrogen Combustion Simulation Using Advance/FrontFlow/red#

This video demonstrates an example of unsteady turbulent combustion analysis performed using our CFD software, Advance/FrontFlow/red. The left figure shows the absolute temperature distribution, visualizing the temperature changes across the combustion field. The right figure extracts the isosurface at 500[K] and highlights vortex structures using Q-values. This allows simultaneous analysis and observation of turbulent structures and thermal distribution caused by combustion. The simulation accurately captures detailed combustion phenomena with hydrogen as the fuel.

  • Simulation Conditions
    • Fuel: Hydrogen
    • Turbulence Model: Standard Smagorinsky Model
    • Time Step: 5e-6 [sec]
    • Mesh Count: Approximately 10 million
    • Parallel Processing: 56 parallel processes
    • Simulation Time: Approximately 80 hours to analyze 0.05 seconds of phenomena
  • Chemical Reaction and Properties

Detailed chemical reactions are employed, and the chemical reaction equations and physical properties are automatically retrieved from Cantera. This automation significantly reduces setup complexity while ensuring highly reliable analysis.
